Title : Manifold Learning for Large Scale Image Search
A PhD position, in manifold learning for large scale image search, is available in the TSI/LTCI lab (Image, Speech, Multimedia and Learning group) at TELECOM ParisTech in Paris ( http://www.tsi.telecom-paristech.fr/en/). The goal of the research position is to design original models and algorithms for "real world and challenging" image retrieval. This topic tackles different aspects mainly (i) image representation, (ii) manifold learning and (iii) ``manifold-driven’’ exploration of image databases.
The TSI/LTCI lab offers many opportunities for collaborations with experienced researchers in information technology and multimedia : image analysis and retrieval, audio/speech processing, machine learning and applied mathematics. TSI is a part of TELECOM ParisTech which is a member of the French network ParisTech (Paris Institute of Technology) gathering the top french ``research and teaching’’ academic institutions in engineering, applied mathematics and computer science.
The candidate should have a Msc degree in either applied mathematics or computer science with knowledge and interest in pattern recognition and machine learning. Very good knowledge of programming languages (C and Matlab) is required. The position will be for 3 years and will start on October 1st 2010.
